PEOPLEMOVER is a data visualization project developed by Aeoloab for the Nokia Design Strategic Projects Studio. A set of data collected by mobile phones over a period of several months is playfully represented using a collection of animated circular 'mobiles'. Each graphic element on the screen is a slice of collected data, such as nearby wi-fi and bluetooth connections, phonecalls, SMS messages, and battery status of the headsets. Connections between relevant pieces of information are also shown, by dotted circles that encompass shared wi-fi hubs and lines that connect bluetooth devices seen by multiple users or calls and messages passed from one user to another. The application allows the data to be viewed in realtime as it is collected by the phones or as a timelapse of a specified period, creating an ambient and abstract yet meaningful composition out of a huge pool of logged textual information.
